Sinusitis or the flu is a painful experience that throws off one’s daily routine as the viral epidemic causes fever, sore muscles, and respiratory discomfort, leaving people exhausted and bedridden.

On the other hand, congested sinuses, which are frequently the result of colds or allergies, manifest as nasal congestion, making breathing difficult and uncomfortable.

These illnesses highlight how fragile our health is and implore people to put self-care, enough sleep, and prompt medical attention first.

As those grappling with ailments like nasal congestion, sinus infection, and sore throat typically quest for natural remedies, here are nine herbal drinks that, according to Times of India, can aid in easing symptoms, unclogging your nose, and soothing your throat.

Ginger tea

Famous for its anti-inflammatory and expectorant qualities, ginger helps relieve sinus irritation, soothe sore throats, and release mucus.

Peel and chop a one-inch piece of fresh ginger root and boil it in two cups of water for 15 minutes. After draining, add honey and lemon juice to taste, and drink it twice or three times a day.

Cinnamon tea

Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial qualities.

Pour your preferred tea over a cinnamon stick, strain it, and enjoy it warm twice a day to alleviate symptoms.

Turmeric milk

Turmeric milk helps prevent infections and relieve congestion in the chest because of the antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities of curcumin.

Warm up a cup of milk, stir in some turmeric, black pepper, and honey, and consume it once or twice a day to help your sinuses and body feel warmer.

Fenugreek (Methi) tea

Fenugreek seeds aid in lowering nasal tissue irritation and mucus production.

To help clear the throat and nose, boil two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds in two cups of water for 10 minutes, drain, and drink twice a day.

Peppermint tea

Mint tea with menthol helps relieve sinus strain and open nasal passages. 

To unclog sinuses and improve breath, steep dried peppermint leaves in boiling water for 10 minutes. Then, add honey and lemon juice, and drink three times a day.

Lemon and honey drink

Honey and lemon together strengthen immunity, help with detoxification, and relieve sore throats. 

Combine lemon juice and honey with warm water and drink three times a day to strengthen immunity and clear sinuses.

Cardamom tea

Due to its antibacterial qualities, cardamom might help ease throat irritation and congestion.

Crush a few cardamom pods, boil them in water, drain, and drink the tea while it’s still warm. For relief, drink this tea twice a day.

Herbal tea

A combination of peppermint chamomile, mullein, sage, ginger, eucalyptus, wild thyme, and blackberry helps to release mucus from the nose and throat.

For maximum effects, steep dried herbs or a tea bag in boiling water with honey and lemon juice. Drink three times a day.

Kadha

Traditionally prepared with Holy basil leaves (Tulsi leaves), black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger, and honey, kadha is an ayurvedic drink that strengthens immunity.

To treat nose and throat blockage, boil these herbs in water for 10 to 15 minutes, drain them, and drink three times a day.
